Otherside phishing scams successfully steal blue-chip NFT

Yesterday, several scammers posted various links to a phishing website similar to the OtherSide NFT project page. Unfortunately, those who have linked their wallets to fake websites have lost a ton of blue-chip NFT.

Fortunately, with On-Chain Detective @ zachxbt, this type of fraud will most likely be fully exposed. Now, let’s find out how the otherside fishing scandal was uncovered.

On the other hand phishing scams steal a lot of blue-chip NFT

In the beginning, these scammers carried out attacks using the most common phishing methods ever. How? The Otherside Phishing Webpage, as shown above, entices people beyond a doubt. As you can probably guess, those who linked their metamask wallets to the site lost a significant amount of blue-chip NFT.

But how much are we talking? Answer: Total loss of $ 6.2 million.

According to @zachxbt, there are 3 scammer wallets associated with fraud. A scammer wallet (wallet 0xb87) just yesterday snatched N 1.03 million (369 ETH) worth of NFT. Its most notable thefts include 4 MAYC, 1 BAYC, and more than 30 plots in The Sandbox Land NFT. And it all comes down to a number of users who have been victims of phishing scams, just in time for the Adarsh Mint.

Two more wallets involved in the fraud: 0xa8 and 0x5d, the stolen NFT is valued at $ 5.1 million. To illustrate, this stolen NFT contains some 4 BAYC, 9 Azukis, 2 MAYC, 2 WOW, and both wallets. Needless to say, it was a nightmare for the victims of the scandal. Instead of getting the exclusive plot of Adarside Land NFT, people have lost their valuable NFT in phishing scams.

How these 3 wallets are connected to each other, zachxbt has been able to give a quick overview of NFTevening. Originally, the 0xb87 wallet transferred to a MAYC and many other NFT 0x5D wallets. From there, 0x5D sent many NFTs to the 0xA8 wallet While there is a chance that this could be an OTC trade, the 0xb87 wallet is definitely behind the scam.

Did the scammers try to block zachxbt?

At one point, Twitter restricted @ zachxbt’s account due to reports of suspicious activity. Undoubtedly, fans suspected that the scammers had gone to Twitter to report @zachxbt, seeing those who wanted to mint the Otherside Land NFT expose their shameless phishing activities. So far, zachxbt has regained access to his Twitter account. What a return in the end!

The latest thought

After all, the key takeaway here is to never click on any unofficial or suspicious links. So far, the scammers have already sold many stolen NFTs and sent their funds to Tornado Cash. Sadly, this event will not end in NFT space. In fact, as NFT gains popularity, more and more scammers will take advantage of NFT enthusiasts around the world.

We hate to see more people fall into this scam. So, educating yourself about NFT storage and security is your best bet against NFT fraud.
