Meta has launched a new digital hub, Crayta
While the world is busy exploring the possibilities of Web 3.0 and blockchain technology, Meta is creating their own universe. Facebook’s parent company has launched a new web portal called Crayta, which works with Facebook.
Earlier, Facebook launched various versions like Stadia and Facebook Gaming. With the acquisition of Unit 2, Meta has launched Crayta, which aims to bring 2D to the Web 3.0 interface.
What is Crayta’s point?
According to Mark Zuckerberg himself, Web 3.0 is strongly focused on the 3D experience with VR and AR technology. There are many NFT projects and blockchain integrations that also focus on Play2Earn aspects. While these are admirable, they forget to have fun or look at the social aspects of Web 3.0.
Crayta is not just a Web 3.0 utility. It is also a web 2 platform. However, the purpose behind Crayta is to show that you can make so much progress in the Web 3.0 world without relying on AR / Vr.
- Crayta eliminates the need to download or install any games. That’s exactly how Facebook games worked.
- Users can quickly create a game or create a link to share with friends to join them.
- Creta has been compared to RoboLux for ‘build-your-own’ games and other aspects.
- Crayta has been compared to Fortnite for colorful and bizarre visuals, designs and more.
Cloud computing – the technology behind the crater
It is interesting to note that Meta did not work on the blockchain or create its own blockchain. Instead, Crayta works on Facebook cloud computing skills. We all vaguely remember that between 2018-2020 cloud gaming is becoming the next big thing. However, the next decade has brought us blockchain gaming. We have almost forgotten about cloud gaming as it has become ‘normal’ with next generation gaming consoles like PS5 and Xbox.
Still, Facebook is still working on it. Their cloud gaming efforts enable users to create any game and host it directly on the Facebook server without worrying about anything.
Extensive resources for developers
In addition to the ease and flexibility of cloud gaming, Crayta incorporates a wide range of pre-designed visual and graphic elements. You can even create mini-games using the library, or a complete game, where it’s all there. You can conveniently create a 2D or 3D graphic game without any problems.
Whether you want to create something new and original or something inspired by other projects, you will have access to tools and resources.
Unreal Engine 4 – Crater Spine
There is already an unrealistic Engine 5 that many AAA gaming companies and developers are using for a next-level experience. Still, Unreal Engine 4 is simple in the power of cloud computing. It is quite versatile and the most user-friendly option.
Powered and used by Crayta Unreal Engine 4. The most commendable achievement is still eliminating the need to download or install the game. You can just load it into your browser and start playing it The platform system is also not extensive.
Of course, for the best graphical performance and experience, you will need a successful system, but still, it is easy for most.
Crayta is not an NFT game
Metaverse is a word that has been around for a long time, even before Facebook changed its name to Meta. Why is this point relevant? Just to show that Meta Web 3.0 and Metavers are trying to be a central part of the infrastructure.
However, Crayta is not an NFT game. Tokens, cryptocurrencies or collectibles are not available for Crayta users to move around or import / export anywhere.
Crayta does not use blockchain technology. Or it does not offer any Play2Earn additions. You can monetize the game, but it has one more policy and much more for users to read and understand.
Many have mistakenly called it an NFT game or platform from Facebook to Metaverse. But that’s what it’s about. If anything, Crayta is only a gaming portal by Meta. It allows you to develop games or play games already available
Bottom line – is Crayta all great?
Crayta is a way of saying meta (formerly Facebook): “We have a gaming website now.” There is no need to create games or post on Facebook. With the power of the Unreal Engine 4, and cloud computing, Crayta is an ambitious approach and something that people can appreciate.
However, it is somewhat disappointing to see that Meta has not decided to launch their own blockchain gaming platform or anything else in general. While many people around the world had a positive reaction to the platform, others found it disappointing.
Cryata will have to stand the test of time, and the hype of the NFT game will have to hold its own for the time being. Still, ‘Roblox-meets-Fortnite’ has quite a nice ring.
