See: Gary V explains the future of NFT
Like bears or not, bear market is upon us. Nevertheless, the NFT community has continued the worst crypto winter weather we’ve seen since 2017. In response, members of different communities have come up with all sorts of irrational projects to lighten the collective mood. Whether it’s goblins or people threatening to ‘do it’, the conventional thinking seems to be that now more than ever, the community must be built.
Longtime internet entrepreneur Gary Vanerchuk has to agree. When we visited VeeCon last May, we had the opportunity to talk to various members of the VeeCon team, such as VaynerNFT President Avery Akkineni, and of course Gary V himself about what the future holds for the NFT community.
Despite referring to his growing VeeFriends empire as an important step in “building the most important intellectual property in the history of mankind”, Vaynerchuk’s approach to the NFT as a whole is much more modest. “I think the next big thing is actually annoying,” he said. Explaining this, Weinerchuk explained, “The next big thing is to eliminate the good, hard, worldly technology of 24, 26 months. [the] Friction [that makes this technology] Impossibly challenging for the people. “
In the end, Wenerchuk said that “the ambition of the Vicans and Vyfrends from day one was to educate through the death penalty.” In Akkineni’s view, big brands and enterprises will benefit the most from Web 3 education and onboarding Vaynerchuk and co.
“I think enterprises should think of NFTs as a way to connect with their consumers in a new fashion. […] Thinking about NFTs is a long-term thing. Thinking about Web3 – they have to be strategic about their actions because it’s not something that’s going away, ”Akkineni said.
Going forward, Akkineni believes the space is becoming more community-oriented. “People are seeing a huge wave of builders who are doing de-commercialized things,” he said. “Now is an incredible time for those who are committed to this space to make free mints, shoot low-cost NFTs that let the community see them make really great things without this over-inflated price.”
