Jim Carrey Auctions ‘Gun in Moonlight’ NFT at Superrare – NFT News Today
Comedian Jim Carrey has released his second NFT artwork on SuperRare. The piece, titled ‘Goon in the Moonlight’, is up for auction until Thursday, with a reserve price of $50,000 or 29-30 Ethereum.
Carrey partnered with his daughter Jane Carrey for the release of Goon in Moonlight, a multimedia NFT. Digital Art, which was produced in collaboration with the Big Head Club, showcases Jim Carrey’s talents as an illustrator, writer and digital animator. The actor’s daughter adds some haunting ethereal background vocals to NFT.
Some of the proceeds from the sale of the digital artwork will go to José Andrés, World Central Kitchen, a charity created to help feed victims of natural disasters.
Goon in the moonlight reflects lost love. “In Moonlight’s Inexorable Romance, the goon can draw from memories of lost love and pangs of regret that can transform any of us into something abominable in our own minds,” Jim Carrey said after the NFT was minted on Monday.
SuperRare announced the drop in a tweet on Tuesday with John Crain, SuperRare co-founder and CEO saying “We’re excited about Jim Carrey’s second drop on SuperRare.” He also said of artist Jim Carrey, “As a visionary artist and performer, it has been incredible to see the evolution of his artistic career.”
Jim Carrey
The Canadian-born actor needs no introduction and is a household name for his comedic roles in comedy classics like Dumb and Dumber, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show.
However, Jim Carrey also has quite a reputation in the world of fine arts. Over the past decade, he has exhibited his art to much acclaim from critics and artists alike. More recently, he has faced controversy in some quarters for his politically explosive paintings and depictions of Trump and his friends.
With the hype surrounding the NFT industry, it was clear that stars would jump onto the NFT industry scene.
In June, she tweeted, “I have been blessed and cursed in this life with a vivid imagination and a burning desire to share my specialties and inspirations with you. This little mood boost is called a sunshower. I hope this NFT does for you what it did for me…
First Jim Carrey NFT Sunshower
The Gunn in Moonlight is the follow-up to his first digital art drop in June, the Sunshower NFT. Carey created the artwork in partnership with director David Bushell. It is based on his paintings. The first art NFT auction had 21 bids and sold for $105,000 to a South Korean animator and director living in New York.
A percentage of the proceeds from the first NFT sale was donated to Feeding America, a charity with over 200 food kitchens across America.
Think later
Jim Carrey’s second NFT appears to be more retro than the first non-fungible token he released. It will be interesting to see the final auction price. You can place a bid on SuperRare.
