Your tattoos ‘may live forever,’ thanks to NFT
NFTs enable artists to interact closely with their audiences, develop their own communities, practice ownership of their work, and generate a fair income by selling their art without intermediaries. The unprecedented rise of NFT in the years following the epidemic strengthened the crypto market and empowered painters, animators, independent musicians and a variety of other artists around the world. Now NFT’s next stop is the tattoo industry.
American tattoo artist Scott Campbell – who has tattooed celebrities including Robert Downey Jr., Courtney Love, and Howard Stern – has teamed up with design studio CTHDRL to bring NFTs into the world of ink. On Friday, May 6 at 3 pm (ET) Campbell and CTHDRL are launching a unique NFT gallery called Scab Shop. As part of the Season One release, the gallery will auction tattoo designs from 12 experienced and highly-talented tattoo artists throughout May and June for 1/1 NFT.
Scab shop NFTs will live forever
On April 7, the scab shop community released 5,000 scab shop passes. In an official press release, the project makers revealed that only scab shop pass holders will be able to bid during their upcoming NFT auction. Each Scab Shop Season One NFT holder will be eligible for a single tattoo appointment with the artist who originally created the NFT design. The artist will render the NFT art as an original tattoo on the buyer’s skin. This tattoo will serve as live proof of Scab Shop NFT ownership.
Although tattoos may already be considered permanent for ink fans, combining them with an NFT component adds extra longevity. Campbell explains

I’ve worked with my art in all sorts of ways: painting, drawing sculpture … tattoos are probably the most fleeting of them all. The artists behind the work
In addition to Scott Campbell, the Scab Shop Gallery auction will feature 1/1 NFT tattoos designed by the following Genesis artists:

- Brooke Candy: Previously featured in the viral music video ‘Genesis’, Brooke is a popular American rapper and tattoo artist known for her quirky art style.
- Josh Lin: Lin is a Taiwanese tattoo artist, visual storyteller and creative impressionist, co-founder of Synthetic Lab.
- Spider Sinclair: Sinclair lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He makes tattoos with a single needle and his works incorporate fine lines and bold graphics.
- Dr. A. This legendary tattoo artist is featured in it GQ And New York Times. With 1.8 million followers on Instagram, he is one of the most popular artists on the web.
- Sasha Masiuk: One of the most famous tattoo artists in LA, Masik is a celebrity tattoo artist who now owns tattoo studios in the United States, Russia and Spain.
- Mr. Cartoon: Mark Machado aka Mr. Cartoon is a famous American tattoo and graffiti artist. Among his clients are big names like Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Lewis Hamilton.

Although these artists have already made a name for themselves in the competitive industry, Campbell believes that NFTs have the potential to make them even bigger. “The concept of tattoo design is being collected and preserved in the same way as other fine art mediums [are] Works to improve the industry as a whole.
