New Zealand Rugby has purchased 33 World of Women Galaxy NFTs
New Zealand Rugby Commercial, the NZ commercial arm of the popular sport, has purchased a staggering 33 World of Women Galaxy (WoWG) NFTs. This is the team’s first foray into the Web3 world, and they’ve picked a great project to start with Moonpay has also been instrumental in helping the NZRC with their NFT purchases, aimed at showing support for the Black Ferns and the women’s game ahead of the Rugby World Cup starting this weekend.

The NZRC team said there was a clear goal behind the acquisition and they wanted to learn about Web3 technology. In the press release, NZRC CEO Richard Thomas said, “We’re watching, learning and absorbing what we can from the sidelines, but it’s time to take the next step. To do that, we need to make a real connection, and we believe that buying this powerful NFT It was the right way to show our intention and actively participate.”
The 33 WoW Galaxy NFTs represent the 32 women who competed for New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup this winter. Additional NFTs symbolize the power of fans and the power behind them
What is the world of women?
The World of Women is a popular NFT project created by artist Yam Karkai. NFTs are extremely popular, but perhaps more so because of their message and the community they have created. They are incredibly welcoming and inclusive and value equal opportunities for all.
Notably, many in the NFT space credit her with increasing the level of diversity within the NFT community and onboarding women. WoW Galaxy is the second collection in the larger WoW ecosystem.
Finally, in the future, NZRC would like to work with WOW and participate in popular community projects. The purchase of 33 WOW Galaxy NFTs also aligns well with the principles behind the NZRC.
