Entered the ring with WWE’s new NFT collection
Following in the footsteps of the NBA top shot, and the UFC strike, WWE has launched its own NFT marketplace.
May 27 in collaboration with Blockchain Creative Labs (BCL). It has now been announced that the first collection will launch on June 3rd.Interested buyers will have plenty to choose from, as the collection will have over 10,000 limited-edition “NFT flip” pieces. These will be available for purchase in three cases at বা 30 per pop in traditional or cryptocurrency.
For fans
Named one of the most striking steps in wrestling, the drop is expected to capture the hearts of longtime fans of the sports-entertainment hybrid.
Each NFT flip is set to feature a WWE Superstar tied to the Sunday night anniversary Hell in a cell Pay-per-view event. After the event, each NFT flip will be converted, releasing a 10-20 second video highlight of the featured superstar. Considering the 25-year history of the event, fans will never know that their NFT flip will show. It could even be the iconic moment when Undertaker threw Mankind Hell in a cellSend him back 16 feet through an announcer’s table.
This first drop is expected to be the first of many, as WWE plans to continue putting drops in Monsanto together with their future pay-per-view events.
WWE and BCL have promised a free Monsant Genesis NFT for the first 10,000 to create a wallet on the market; All of which were claimed within hours of the announcement of the gift. With at least four more queuing for the rest of the year, fans will not have to deal with FOMO after this opening drop.
Long-term thinking
Perhaps the most significant acceptance of WWE’s plans to move into the NFT space is their planned release structure. Syncing their drops with pay-per-view events gives them some protection from flooding the NFT market and reducing the value of their collections – a fortune NBA top shot holders are all too familiar with.
After all, Phantom can take you so far when you see these collections as your first and foremost investment.
Yet, with the NBA’s continued presence in space as well as NFT’s massive presence in the Super Bowl, it is likely that WWE will enter the growing NFT collectible market from the last sports ‘league’.
