Underrated: Streetlab Genesis, Keeper of the Inn, Cyberbroker and more

Traveling the world of non-fungibles is a daunting task. With so many new NFT projects, artists, and large-scale collections cropping up weekly, it’s become nearly impossible to keep up with every successive development.

Previously, a simple browse through OpenSea was enough to find the latest NFT craze. But things have changed drastically since the 2021 NFT boom. Now, NFT enthusiasts need to be really aware of what and where they collect.

To help you discover amazing NFT efforts, both new and old, NFT now presents Undervalued: a weekly column that highlights innovative projects, collections, and artists moving the NFT space forward.

StreetLab Genesis

(originally called Free Muertos Tribute) is a Day of the Dead-inspired 4,444-piece PFP NFT collectible. Launched in June 2022, the collection created StreetLab is the decentralized street art NFT platform and the largest collection published on the platform. The Genesis collection was designed and hand painted Mexican street artist Yeska who has been drawing graffiti since he was just 15 years old.

Free Muertos are said to be freedom fighters who have returned from the dead to lead street artists into the NFT scene and fight against censorship. Each NFT within the Genesis collection provides unique utility to its owner, allowing them to vote for initiatives on the StreetLab platform.

Launching in December 2021, Keepers of the Inn is a large-scale collection created by pioneers. Photographer and filmmaker Julie Pacino. Comprised of 3,356 photographs, the collection is a time capsule of sorts, each captured during the rehearsal process for Pacino’s upcoming feature film. I live here now.

Pacino’s Keepers of the Inn is a unique effort, even by NFT standards, and provides perhaps the best use case for financing a film through NFT. The collection likely led to Pacino joining prominent independent film distribution company Utopia in producing the feature film.

CyberBrokers, launched in March 2022 is a large-scale PFP project developed by Crypto-Art OG Josie Bellini. A unique entrant to the PFP market, every part of the collection is completely on-chain.

Like other blue-chip collectibles, each NFT within the Cyberbrokers Collection serves as an exclusive collector community membership and access pass, as well as a variety of metaverse experiences. Considering that only a select few crypto-art OGs have launched their own PFP collections (or iterations thereof), Bellini’s project is an honor to add to his artistic legacy.

Bored and Dangerous, launched in July 2022, is a literature-based NFT project named after a fictional bored ape character. Jenkins the valet. A prominent collector and writer in the NFT space, Jenkins came together with his 3,000-member community to create the NFT experience.

About a year in the making, the project was directed by Jenkins, but has a novel written by 10x The New York Times Bestseller Neil Strauss. The novel consists primarily of characters, images, and more created and/or owned by Jenkins or members of his community.

Pazzi Penguin says "smile today"

Launching in July 2021, Pudgy Penguins is a collection of 8,888 penguin-themed NFTs that are considered beacons of positivity in the NFT space. At just over a year old, the collection has seen its fair share of ups and downs but remains an integral part of the NFT ecosystem – complete with Own line of toys.

In the project controversy: In December 2021, a Pudgy Penguin community moderator quit the team, accusing the project leaders of being shady and ineffective. He even revealed that one of the leaders of the project tried to buy his silence with bribes. Later, the project was handed over to new management and has been slowly restructured, even surpassing fellow prominent PFP collection Cool Cats in value.
