This weekend’s GutterCon – the Gutter Cat Gang’s convention experience – ended badly for one NFT holder. An unknown hacker stole hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of NFTs. Thousands of dollars worth of NFTs stolen through hacking
Witnessing cases of stolen NFTs is never a good feeling. In this case, @denniswbielik had $100,000 worth of hacks, including some blue-chip NFTs from Bored Ape Yacht Club, RTFKT, and the Gutter Cat Gang.
It was staged by the Gutter Cat Gang at the GutterCon event this weekend. Apparently, their phones were off, and the attack still happened. Furthermore, the phone was next to @denniswbielik, aka the reply guy, even while they were sleeping. Unfortunately, @denniswbielik stores his NFTs in Metamask, not a hardware wallet like Ledger.
A user asked why NFTs were in a hot wallet to begin with In response, @denniswbielik said: “Honestly, it still hasn’t transferred to my other wallet and was stoked that Gutercon forgot to do it earlier.”
Currently, @denniswbielik has filed a lawsuit with the Las Vegas Police Department. Many are speculating about how this hack could happen. In fact, @denniswbielik’s developer friend speculated that the hacker might be targeting a TAGHeuer watch. Certain watch models can connect to MetaMask as a way to display NFTs.
About GutterCon
GutterCon was the Gutter Cat Gang’s answer to all their holders attending a conference. The event consisted of a meetup, paintball, speed track, spa day, dinner and a ‘surprise event’. In addition, there was also the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
As expected in Vegas, there were fans dance all night On some varied occasions.
For the most part, the event seemed like a fun community get-together, but the stolen NFTs from @denniswbielik definitely put a damper on the weekend.
