Tarantino and Miramax drop swords in NFT copyright battle
In one of the longest running copyright sagas in NFT history, Quentin Tarantino and Miramax have finally reached a settlement. As a result, both parties agreed to dismiss the case and put the whole mess behind them.
In November, at the height of the world’s first NFT bull run, Tarantino attempted to launch an NFT collection featuring footage from his hit movies, Pulp Fiction. However, Miramax took action to argue that they and the famed director did not own the rights to the material used.
Things then started to get messy, when Tim Tarantino insisted that Miramax did not specifically own the rights to distribute NFT. Basically, arguing that the medium didn’t even exist when the contract was made. However, after a long deadlock, both sides have agreed to put the whole sorry matter to bed, now giving a hint. Future cooperation Among the pair, NFTs are likely to enter the mix.
Despite the lawsuit, Tarantino was finally able to drop the first item in his 7-piece collection in January. A very popular collectible that eventually changed hands for $1.1 million. Now, as the dust settles, movie buffs and NFT collectors alike await the rest of the drop in anticipation. However, the announcement of that front is yet to come.
