Romania issues plans to preserve official documents as NFT
Romania’s National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI) Announced a new national program that uses blockchain technology to access, transfer and store official documentation of its citizens. Known as the ‘Romanian National System for Issuers and Assets’ (NSIDA), the ultimate goal of this endeavor is to improve efficiency in obtaining and managing the necessary official documents such as birth certificates, driving licenses and land / property documents.
As you probably guessed, the NFT would be a medium through which such documents would be stored, with each form expected to be accompanied by a non-fungible replica that would be highly-scalable and environmentally-friendly. Elrond Blockchain. Those who wish to continue using their physical, IRL documents will be able to do so, as these ‘old school’ methods will remain valid.
The effort will also include the launch of an exclusive and secure NFT marketplace where citizens will be able to access verified government documents in person without the hassle of going to official offices.
In the future, and after the launch of NSIDA (which has not yet been given a launch date), ICI would like to make more use of Elrond’s services to create a decentralized network for critical public resources in the country.
This use of blockchain technology, which many NFT enthusiasts have always imagined would eventually come from space, is a prime example of how.
