Infinite Fleet NFT Project Interview | NFT Culture | NFT and Crypto Art Interviews and more

Can you share the initial idea for Infinite Fleet and how the project began?

Infinite Fleet is Samson Mow’s dream project.

We are anime and mecha enthusiasts, inspired by classic 80’s anime movies and TV shows. It’s a game that aims to drive Bitcoin adoption to the ever-expanding video game community.

Samson is a beacon in the Bitcoin space. He gained notoriety at the vanguard of the 2015 block size war. After leaving his post as COO of the then leading Bitcoin exchange, BTCC, Samson became the Chief Strategy Officer of the most prominent Bitcoin infrastructure company, Blockstream. Recently, he raised 21 million USD to start his Bitcoin Layer 2 R&D company, January 3, which is promoting Bitcoin adoption in the country.

Not many people know that Samson was an experienced game developer before he found fame in Bitcoin! While working at Riley, he worked on Metacritic’s highest-rated strategy game “Company of Heroes” and the fan-favorite Games Workshop video game “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.” He then moved on to an executive position at world-renowned AAA studio Ubisoft to publish their most profitable Facebook game – Smurfs and Co.

Samson started Pixelmatic in 2011 to create social games. His vision is to reinvent the strategy gaming genre by expanding it to millions of players in a procedurally generated universe where players collaborate to improve.

Players’ actions rewrite the entire destiny of the Infinite Fleet through a guided narrative – a system of nexus events where stories diverge according to the community’s success or failure. Players who take part in such pivotal moments have their legacies etched into the lore of Infinite Fleet for future generations of gamers.

What makes Infinite Fleet particularly exciting to their target market?

Guided narration is one of the most exciting and innovative features of Infinite Fleet. One of the main motivations of MMO players is to have desire – to feel that you matter. The guided narrative allows you to make a huge difference in the game.

Our controls and camera mechanics are completely different from other strategy games. In most strategy games, you have a bird’s-eye view of your forces and control them on a 2D plane. In Infinite Fleet, you switch between a traditional tactical perspective and direct control of your capital ships from a third-person perspective. It gives you a cinematic “Star Wars” feel as you battle hundreds of fleets across binary stars and black holes blasting each other into oblivion.

Many strategy gamers love to expand their bases and territories! We use a procedurally generated system to create millions of star systems. They have planets, moons, asteroid belts, nebulae, and many other cosmic anomalies that players can explore and conquer. Players can build defense platforms, mining facilities, outposts, space stations and more to protect humanity against the threat of the alien Atrox.

And, since most of our players are sci-fi enthusiasts, they will be able to configure their fleet in great depth. They will recruit crew members, install weapons, upgrade systems and swap their fleet composition to create the ultimate combination with their preferred play style.

How is Infinite Fleet implementing cryptocurrencies and NFTs into their games?

Infinite Fleet is taking a completely different approach than anything you’ve seen before!

The promise of pay-to-earn games is predicated on digital items becoming more valuable, and that’s the only reason people are playing them.

They are not fun.

Blockchain games are so focused on investment and economics that the game is redundant. Playing games to earn them will require investing in unregulated tokens, not to mention the horrible user experience of navigating the various dApps and blockchains.

Infinite Fleet is not a play-by-play game. But it uses a Bitcoin sidechain to create its in-game currency, $INF, and our in-game NFT spaceship. Bitcoin exists for the same reason we do it – free trade.

$INF is created on the Liquid Network and is earned by players when they participate in the game. This means joining social events like epic raids and completing complex achievements. You cannot buy it from us. It can only be earned by playing (for free). We call this “proof of participation”. It’s very important that creating $INF is a fun, challenging and social experience, not a mindless grind.

We also mint our NFT ships on Liquid Network. NFTs are like keys to your spaceship. Containers don’t sit on the blockchain; It is in our centralized database. NFT gives you the right to use the vessel and you can trade wherever you want without our intervention.

You can trade any liquid asset atomically, meaning both parties to a transaction must execute simultaneously, or the transaction will fail. So the other party cannot steal your product before completing their transaction.

However, $INF is not an essential part of Infinite Fleet. This is an additional feature that we think is exceptionally cool. Still, Infinite Fleet is a great MMO game without $INF tokens or NFT

Many people are excited about Infinite Fleet’s free market approach. Where did these ideas and plans come from?

This is a natural evolution for us as gamers and bitcoiners. We believe in free trade, and as MMO gamers, we’ve been well-acquainted with digital currencies for decades. In fact, in early mischief, Samson ran a gold mining operation in Lineage 2!

Atomic swaps allow for trustless trading. So, if I buy some gold in World of Warcraft, which is against the developer’s terms of service, I’ll pay some stranger on eBay, and we’ll agree to meet somewhere in the game. You’re getting there, and it might take a while for that person to get there. You will feel quite stressed! Perhaps you have just been cheated!

I do not need to believe the other side with a nuclear swap – and it is revolutionary!

It doesn’t matter if you’re in a small forum or Telegram group; You know you’ll get what you ordered before your NFT ships or other assets leave your wallet. This is a breakthrough for in-game item trading.

There are some big players in this team. Why are so many well-known professionals working together on this exciting project?

No other project is doing what we’re doing by ethically implementing a portable currency into a game. It is inspiring for those who share our views.

Jason Lee is the Chief Creative Officer. He was previously the lead gameplay designer on Age of Empires 4, one of the biggest IPs in the strategy genre. He also worked on Company of Heroes, Metacritic’s highest rated strategy game.

Our Art Director, Wen Wong Chong, has 20 years of experience in the technology industry He is taking our artwork to AAA standards. In fact, under his guidance, ArtStation has featured many of our concept pieces as “Top Picks.”

Jordan Guinaud is our VP of Engineering. He has been building, leading and managing teams for over a decade. He has worked with giant companies like Coca-Cola, Philips and TomTom and scaled engineering companies through their funding stages.

We also onboarded Vince DiCola, a composer who wrote the soundtracks for the original Transformers 80’s movies and Rocky IV!

You are raising money through STO, why did you decide to do it and who is participating?

Companies looking to raise money in this industry face the question of whether they want to go the regulated or unregulated route. We chose to take the former.

Security Token Offerings (STOs) are a great way to take a legitimate route for those serious about building a long-term product.

Infinite Fleet’s public STO is like a mini-IPO and allows all professional and retail investors to access this early stage opportunity. Traditionally, investing in early-stage businesses has been reserved for VCs, private equity firms and the “inner circle” of Wall Street, never for the general public. With our public STO, everyone will have the opportunity to back the game and become a shareholder in the business, regardless of social or income class.

We worked with STOKR to launch our STO in the EU. We have raised with over 1000 public investors.

We also attracted some visionary investors to the project and broke through our first funding round. When we launched the project on Simon Dixon’s popular investment platform BnktotheFuture, we cleared over $250k within 24 hours – leading to an oversubscription of the round. We have collected 7.8 million till date.

Some of our all-star investors include Charlie Lee, the inventor of Litecoin and a huge influencer in the tech and Bitcoin world. Max Keizer is a famous broadcaster and host of the Keizer Report. Phil Potter is the co-founder of Tether and former CSO of Bitfinex, one of the largest and most trusted crypto exchanges in the world. Tether also invested 1 million, and Polyient, a gaming VC firm, invested 500k.

You have an exciting STO coming up. Can you share more information about that?

EXO tokens represent non-voting equity with profit-sharing from the publisher of Infinite Fleet, Exordium Limited. The token is fully compliant and has an ISIN number in the EU and is in the process of registering with the SEC (US) through a Reg A+ to allow public investors.

We are working with Bitifinex, one of the world’s largest exchanges, to be one of the first listings on their new Bitfinex securities platform. We are also working on listing tokens with INX.

Anyone interested in investing can visit the Bitfinex Securities page here.

Other than the upcoming STO, what can users expect to see in the future – near and far?

The beta is coming out on July 28th. And we are very excited about it. There will be some pretty significant graphical updates, and we’ll be releasing regular 2-month cycles with massive content drops. We’re iteratively building Infinite Fleet, so the game will evolve and grow for years to come. Like other sprawling MMOs, we want Infinite Fleet to last for decades.

However, Infinite Fleet is by no means the end! We are building a publishing platform to launch games from other developers as well We are looking for developers who share similar principles about the free market for in-game items. We would like to develop more games in the future and launch them on the platform.
