Leading Web3 City Miami Launches 5,000 NFTs

The city of Miami, Florida, a metropolis leading the way in Web3 innovation, is set to release a 5,000 NFT collection in partnership with Time magazine publisher Time USA, MasterCard and Salesforce.

To represent the city’s 56 square miles, the NFTs from the collection are being curated by 56 different Miami-based artists. They are planned for release in December of this year, and are designed to empower holders Unlock unique experiences. For now, this is the only clear information that is blockchain-advocating in the city Mayor Francis X Suarez Shares about resource properties.

Through this initiative, Time USA will help develop the city’s NFT strategy, while MasterCard Miami will offer NFT holders exclusive benefits such as special access to restaurants and private cultural tours of the city. Leveraging its new and upcoming NFT cloud platform, Salesforce will handle the minting and initial sales process of NFTs.

As many know, this isn’t the first Web3 initiative from the city (and Suarez), as it previously launched MiamiCoin (MIA), an altcoin that the city will hold in a wallet and others can buy. The coin dropped in August last year and Earned about $8 million In its first two months of activity, however, it is now down 98.9% from its all-time high.

Since then, the city has locked up or held back much of its MIA to earn a yield in bitcoins, a yield set to be shared among its residents.
