The legendary artist will launch the NFT collection with Astar Network

Multichain smart contract platform Astar Network has announced a partnership with renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano for its first NFT collection.

The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection will feature 108 angel hands drawn by Amano and will be released on the Aster blockchain.

In addition, Astar also announced plans to create a Web3 entertainment site for the ‘Candy Girl’ collection, which will serve as an outlet for new galleries, entertainment and designers.

The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection marks the first presentation of Amano’s iconic artwork on the blockchain.

Astar Network Founder and CEO Sota Watanabe said: “Without a doubt, Yoshitaka Amano is a legendary artist of the 21st century. I am honored to work with him and host his first NFT on the Astar Network.”

Art legend

Yoshitaka Amano is a world-class Japanese artist responsible for the timeless artwork on ‘Speeddresser’, ‘Sandman: The Dream Hunters’ and most notably ‘Final Fantasy’.

A pioneer in creating impossible worlds stemming from his interest in Western culture, Amano’s unique style of Japanese art is admired around the world.

Furthermore, Amano’s strong art has led him to collaborate with more than 20 authors, producing inspirational illustrated books that have sold millions of copies.

Yoshitaka Amano says: “It’s a bonus for people to see and appreciate my work. It makes me want to draw even more. It was already there when I was a child and it hasn’t changed since.”

A Web3 fine art platform

The ‘Candy Girl’ NFT collection also marks the start of Astar Network’s partnership with Twin Planet – the talent management agency that represents Yoshitaka Amano and other popular artists.

The goal of this collaboration is to help arts professionals mint their digital assets, and deliver them to the public over a trusted and secure network.

Through a Web3 entertainment site, managed by Astar, fine art will have a direct connection to the real world of NFT ownership.

Therefore, ‘Candy Girl’ aims to guide Japanese content creators to truly own and distribute their art to a global audience.

In fact, Amano’s collection of stunning angels is already inspiring clothing designs at ‘Tokyo Girls Collection 2017’ and high fashion at Mitsukoshi Ginza’s ‘Discover Tokyo’ event.

Astar on a mission

Astar Network believes it is now positioned as the blockchain of choice for professional artists to create, auction and showcase their work.

With this exclusive NFT collection, Astar is realizing its mission of bringing East to West, international leaders from fine art to blockchain technology and the Web3 world.

Astar’s ecosystem has already become Polkadot’s leading parachain worldwide, supported by all major exchanges and 1 VCs.

The platform’s Build2Earn model empowers developers to get paid for the code they write and build dApps through a dApp staking mechanism.
