RTFKT Animus NFT Project: What is it about?

This week, all eyes turned to RTFKT as the project teased its upcoming NFT drop: Animus. On October 8, RTFKT’s founding team posted a video sneak peek showing three characters walking around in a futuristic environment. Some say it’s an Otherside collaboration with their Koda avatar, others think it’s a new collection – but who’s really right? Here’s what you need to know:

What is RTFKT’s Animus NFT Project?

Honestly, no one knows for sure at the moment. For what we know so far though, Animus is likely an upcoming NFT drop from the popular RTFKT. The project shared a 30-second video this week showing a ClonX avatar walking alongside a large creature like the Alpha Shark character.

As the two turn around, a small creature waves “hi”. The CloneX character waved a hand and invited them to walk with them. The most exciting part? The small character appears to be a coda – popular NFT avatar of Yuga Labs’ Otherside!

In the comments section of the video, RTFKT mentions that the new drop will arrive in 2023. Anyway, “eggs for clones” will drop in November – but what could it hide?

Many NFT collectors believe that the large creature in RTFKT’s Animus video is actually an adult version of the baby Koda. It may suggest evolving NFT or a new airdrop for RTFKT or Otherside holders.

In fact, some collectors even went a step further and envisioned a Pokemon-inspired game launched by RTFKT and the Otherside meta. For now, all we know is that the announcement sent RTFKT’s NFT floor price up by a heartbeat!

For example, the floor price of the Clone X collection with Takashi Murakami jumped more than 50% after the Animus trailer, DaRadar data showed. Amazingly, the collection even rose to second place on DappRadar’s 7-day trading volume chart, surpassing MAYC and CryptoPunks.

Why would RTFKT join forces with others?

RTFKT is undoubtedly one of the most successful creative NFT studios to date. Founded in 2020, the project uses new technologies like AR to create outstanding 3D collectibles.

However, it was only in 2021 that RTFKT became a leading producer of NFT wearable products. For example, its first collection of digital sneakers raised over $3M in February 2021 alone!

This outstanding achievement has attracted iconic brands in the industry including Nike. By December 2021, the giant shoemaker confirmed it had bought RTFKT – and the brand has been growing ever since.

If RTFKT really partners with Otherside Metaverse for its drop, Animus could become a leading NFT project. After all, the 3D virtual world is attracting thousands of players monthly by providing an MMORPG gaming experience.
